Editor and Chief and Beyond 03-30-10

I got some positive feedback on this one, so I spent some more time with it.

It feels like an instrumental at the moment, which has brought back to light the idea of doing a double album, one of the vocal tracks and one of instrumentals. I also started thinking about the way that I could have the two parallel each other, or maybe one could be the precursor to the other. I've also started to consider working more instrumentals into the final album, the way that many of my favorite artists do.

Editor and Chief and Beyond

The main piano part came out of this while trying some alternate solos for "Five Minutes." After I recorded it on its own and as piano, it gave me a Mutemath vibe. It's probably because of all the triplets.

(Unrelated, Mutemath is touring with 30 Seconds to Mars. You should really get on that.)

Nothing much here, just two slightly different sections with some accompanying instrumentation dropping in.

Here's a complete instrumental first draft of "My Dogs Are Hungry."

I'm interested to hear how all the party-style percussion works in the song once I try to put some vocals on top of this one.

For those of you who really thought that Maybe Bomb needed some more Latin percussion, here is a new one in progress.

Also, if you haven't been the Facebook page in a while, there are some sweet nuggets, including my West Gate remix and an updated version of "Five Minutes" (formally "Step Brothers"). Similarly, my brother just started a blog that shows infinite promise.
